There’s something about eating oatmeal that’s so comforting and satisfying. I top the oatmeal off with fresh berries and cinnamon powder. Yummy! Want to find out how to make homemade oatmeal? Let me show you how.
What are the steps to making homemade oatmeal?
First, choose your oats. I like to use rolled old fashion oats because they cook faster than steel-cut oats. Steel-cut oats are firmer, chewier, and take longer to cook. Rolled oats have a chewier texture, but are not as firm and cook faster. In this recipe, I use Quick Cooking Rolled Oats.
Once you have your oats you are only going to need a few pantry items and fresh fruit. First, start with the base. The base is usually water or milk. When the liquid is hot add the oats and ingredients of your choice. Remember to stir consistently and keep an eye on your oatmeal while cooking. If you are using rolled oats it will take under 10 mins to make.
Not only is this recipe satisfying to have it can be good for your health. According to the website, Healthline studies show that oats and oatmeal have many health benefits. The health benefits include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels, and a reduced risk of heart disease. So you get a meal that is comforting and good for you too!
